After a series of community complaints led to regulatory risks for a manufacturing plant Futureye was asked to build strategy to improve its social performance. To assess what was needed Futureye undertook a 360 degree social impact assessment that analysed community perceptions, impacts and the gaps so that a successful social performance strategy could be created.
Stakeholder and community expectations define the context for achievement of a social licence to operate. Social Performance covers a range of people-focused activities including stakeholder engagement, community relations, social impact and opportunity assessment, indigenous affairs, human rights and community development. There are also internal factors such as OH&S, EEO, hiring and promotion policy and performance management, staff engagement, participatory processes that contribute to your Social Performance indicators.
Strong Social Performance enhances your reputation and your ability to engage with the market and the public. This can speed-up decision making and approval processes, minimise conflict and provide better commercial insights.
Futureye understands how to make stakeholder engagement effective for all parties. We specialise in engagement with activists/ campaigners, affected residents, indigenous communities as well as culturally and linguistically diverse communities. We advise government and industry on engaging people on complex issues in ways that seek to resolve stakeholder concerns. We do this by using a risk communication planning tool that enables us to predict areas of potential risk so that we can pre-plan the engagement to make it meaningful.
