Heather Carmody is an organisation design and implementation specialist with an emphasis on role clarity, accountability, capability and governance arrangements that are aligned with the business vision and strategy.

Experience:

  • Broad, rich professional background that includes general management, technical leadership and consulting. Her consulting experience began as a Director of World Competitive Practices – a firm established by Heather and two Business Council of Australia colleagues.
  • Led and participated in many major organisation improvement assignments over a 20 year period. These most recently include reviewing corporate costs and organization structure in a resources company; improving the quality of and commitment to core business processes in a major Australian bank; establishing and facilitating a communications framework for a major, multi-nation joint venture construction project in NZ; and assisting a major Australian heavy manufacturing organisation transform its management capability.
  • Extensive experience in the mining, energy and heavy manufacturing sectors.
  • Led a two year project to transform a major mining company’s organisational capability and to develop a system of managerial leadership. The project involved structuring roles, developing and renovating a number of systems, culture change, building managerial capability at all levels and refocusing the work of the top team.
  • Review of business model and structure of part of a major bank; and helping a manufacturer with the structural integration of a major recent acquisition.
  • Established an international reputation as Executive Director of the Business Council of Australia’s Council for Equal Opportunity. The strength of the Council’s work was its business focus and capability to synthesize different perspectives.
  • Board experience both as a consultant on Board effectiveness and as a Board member, including serving as Deputy Chancellor of RMIT University and as a member of Leadership Victoria’s Board.
