Eyal Halamish
Consultant

Eyal Halamish is an innovation and stakeholder engagement specialist. He has onsite sustainability auditing experience as well as interviewing and strategy development expertise.

Eyal has been involved in delivering numerous stakeholder engagements. He has experience in managing and coordinating strategic stakeholder engagement, consultation, and participation projects – for OneSteel Whyalla Steelworks on health, Blue Circle Southern Cement on alternative kiln fuels, and Hanson Construction on dust, health, water, and biodiversity issues.

 

He has also worked in the renewable energy sector to trouble-shoot community and activist concerns about health and facilitated Ministerial engagements across Victoria’s eight provincial areas.

As an advisor on innovation and building environmental awareness in business Eyal has worked with Australia’s leading metals manufacturer, OneSteel, to pioneer a resource smart education and improvement program at their Whyalla Steelworks in South Australia. Eyal has also partnered with the Commonwealth Science and Industry Research Organisation (CSIRO) to assess the social evolution of concerns around biodiversity for the Executive Officer. Likewise, in partnership with Australia’s leading experts on climate change and associated mining and business issues, he coordinated scenario modelling on the social impacts of climate change to inform BHP Billiton’s global carbon reduction strategy.

He is also the founder of a new social media initiative which aims to generate ideas for political decision-makers using web 2.0 tools.

Experience:

  • Managed a high-level health strategy and executive management response development, including key stakeholder interviews and scenario analysis, for OneSteel Whyalla’s Executive General Manager in response to black dust and environmental management concerns.
  • In partnership with Australia’s leading experts on biodiversity at CSIRO he is developing a social maturation curve to assist CSIRO in forecasting likely future developments and impacts in the area of biodiversity.
  • Consulted activists and highly-concerned stakeholders on issues of dust, health, water, and biodiversity for a proposed quarry site to inform Hanson’s strategy for project approval.
  • Developed steel-works-wide environmental awareness and improvement program, using eco-innovation labs to implement knowledge and system capabilities that identify water, waste, and energy efficiencies and improvements at OneSteel, Whyalla.
  • Audited and assessed environmental and social sustainability at the Walter Diversified Services Newcastle site and developed clear recommendations for the company to take on at a board-level.
  • Coordinated high-level research and scenario modeling of key perspectives and potential impacts of climate change for BHP Billiton’s global strategy.
